At the end of March of this year, the new testing protocol PE 1/38, 2020 becomes effective according to the Exempt Resolution #14225 of the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels published on October 12, 2023.
Toy transformers and power supplies incorporating toy transformers, the output voltage with no load:
- must not exceed 33 V AC; or
- 46 V in DC filtered for power supplies incorporating transformers
for toys. - Toy transformers and power supplies incorporating toy transformers, the rated output voltage:
- must not exceed 24 V AC; or
- 33 V DC filtered for power supplies.
Applies also to:
A. Transformers and power supplies for toys that incorporate both
transformers for toys such as electronic circuits.
B. Dry type transformers for toys. The windings can be
encapsulated or non-encapsulated.
C. Transformers for toys and power supplies, both when they are
as a stand-alone accessory or spare part, or when marketed as a stand-alone accessory or spare part.
marketed together with toys.
D. Any transformer for toys and power supplies that are placed on the market without
a specific purpose but can also be used for toys.
Not applicable to:
a) External circuits and their components intended to be connected to terminals
primary terminals, secondary terminals or the sockets of transformers and
power supplies.
b) Transformers and power supplies built into or attached to a toy.
c) Transformers and power supplies with a rated voltage of
output exceeding 24 V AC or 33 V DC filtered.
d) Transformers and power supplies operating or using power supply
in direct current, such as those that are connected to the
automobiles.
e) Transformers and power supplies for toys without 220 V socket.
f) Transformers and power supplies for USB power toys.
g) Transformers and power supplies for solar toys.
