The laboratory of tests to appliances products is inaugurated in the year 1999, although before this date, INGCER carried out this service, it did not have a laboratory one hundred percent own. In the beginning, dependencies of the University of Chile were used to test this type of products.

The Laboratory of tests to electrical household products has more than 20 years of experience carrying out this service. And it has an adequate infrastructure for the correct performance of the tests, with equipment, instruments and devices of advanced technology. Likewise, it has highly trained professionals with the appropriate experience to perform tests under international standards.

It is governed by a quality management system, which provides the confidence for the correct execution of the tests, as well as the impartiality in the delivery of results and the confidentiality of these.

Some of the general tests performed in the laboratory are:

  • Measuring tests for power consumption and electric current
  • Overheating
  • Terminal safety, stability and mechanical hazards
  • Protection from access to active parts
  • Mechanical strength and moisture resistance
  • Measurement of leakage current and dielectric rigidity
  • Resistance to oxidation, heat resistance and fire resistance
  • Connection to the mains, external flexible cables and verification of the dimensions of the plugs
  • Mechanical and electrical endurance and abnormal performances
