Certification of public lighting in alliance with the Laboratory of Photometry and Quality Control of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso

We are adding new protocols PE 5/7 and PE 5/19 in the area of lighting, for Luminaires and Area Projectors applied to Public Lighting; which have mandatory certification in the country since 2010 and 2014 respectively.

Thanks to a Technical-Commercial Alliance with the Photometry and Quality Control Laboratory of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, we will have a first class laboratory in the country, in the area of lighting, for tests and evaluations that will allow us to certify these products.

This type of luminaries, cover the exterior lighting of streets, highways, tunnels, roads, urban scenes and have the purpose of distributing, filtering or transforming the light emitted by one or more lamps or light sources, such as sodium, mercury and/or metal halide discharge lamps, LED, induction lamps.

The luminaire includes all the devices necessary for supporting, fixing and protecting the lamps or light sources and, if necessary, the auxiliary circuits in combination with the means of connection to the power supply. They are considered to operate with a power supply not exceeding 1,000 volts.

PA luminaires are integrated in a column with a mounting height of more than 2.5 m and must comply with IEC 60598-2-3 and IEC 60598-1 in accordance with the PE 5/7 protocol laid down by national regulations.

Area Floodlights for public lighting provide illumination by projection to cover the whole of a scene or a subject providing significantly higher illumination than the surrounding area and must comply with IEC 60598-2-5 and IEC 60598-1 standards and the PE N° 5/19 safety test protocol.
